I don't know if it is a coincidence, but I had my bike appraised yesterday at the harley dealer and test rode three bikes while they appraised mines and now I am having some issues.
There are no coincidences

This makes perfect sense and I completely agree with you. And exactly how do you break off the shaft on the transmission stick in the first place?
I'd be at that dealership ASAP; mess up my ride? It would be Thunderdome up in that joint...
harley told me just the tip broke off. But I just discovered that the whole freaking stick is gone so basically I just have a transmission cap not a dipstick. But the oil still looks very good not discolored or anything except for those few pieces of metal I found.
sounds like the mechanic covered up his error. Should have drained tranny and clean it out
thats why I dont take mine to dealer. Now its your word against his
you should be down there ...in someones face ....about the tech who broke the dipstick...they screwed that up ...and soon you will be paying for it !!!
in fact ..make the "so-called tech " pay for it !!!
how does anyone break off the dipstick ??? ...unbelievable ..!!!...
so ...just where is the rest of the dipstick ...do you have it ...???
I could careless about the dipstick. I need to figure out the metal in the tranny issue. I'm going to refill it and readjust the clutch again after work today
Thanks for all that! I've got a bit of cutting to do this afternoon, apparently I use the HD speed check transmission stick and keep the original in the spares box. I'll cut off the shaft on the speed check so it's just a cap; if I want to check fluid level I'll grab the spare...
Just trying to provide info to make others aware of what might be a known problem
No harm intended. I had read on an old thread that they are like a plastic type material and they usually never cause any damage. And on the next fluid change its chopped up really fine and comes out with the fluid.

good recommendation. I will do same
Is there a black speed check stick for our Wide Glides?
BTW. I like the rear wheels mod you did on yours. Best thing its still a Wide Glide
