HI guys, Considering putting a Dunlop GT502 180/60/17 on my 2012 FXDC. Stock tire is a 160/70/17. The only issues that I am finding is to make sure that your signal light wiring is well secured. Anyone done the conversion on this bike?
I put on the wide tire kit with the Dunlop you’re talking about around 8 years ago. Works great. No regrets. No mods necessary to the turn signals on my 2007. Great, sticky tire! Suggest getting the. GT502 front as well. I recommend against a fatter tire. The fatter the tire, the more you’ll need to lean to turn - or so I’ve read.
I put a 18x5.5 wheel and 200 tire on the back of my 2012 FXDC. No clearance issues whatsoever, even with the air ride all the way down. Ignore the "rub mark" in the picture. I ran over something wet lol.
Done it as well in the past, just make sure those wires are all out of the way. As in a permanent solution, otherwise that tire will find a way to rub on them, you'll lose your lights, short out, and potentially cause other problems.... Ultimately I switched back to a 160 due to those issues.
I recently went to a 180 Michelin Scorcher on my 2013 FXDC with no issues so far. My tire guy check the wires under the fender and said there would be no issues.
Is there a reason why to do this?
If it’s a look that in your mind will make the bike look better, great I understand, but if it’s a look that you think other people will notice....
is is there a performance gain?
Must cost more?

So do you need to get a wider wheel to run a 180 tire ?
I read a bunch of posts on this topic before buying my new tires. All said no problem with the 180 tire. I've got a set of Pirelli Night Dragons (180/60B17, 100/90-19) that are going on my bike in the next week or two.
