Does anyone own this saddlebag support? JP Catalog - support brackets
I'm having trouble figuring out whether they will work for me. I have a set of slanted throw-over bags that don't require a turn signal relocation. If you have experience with this product or something similar, let me know how it worked out. Thanks in advance.
Not sure mine are exactly the same, but look like it. They worked pretty good for me. Simple bolt on, and not didn't have to relocate the turn signals on my 99 WG
You didn't say what year bike you have. They won't work on the 06-07 Dyna's because there's only one bolt in the side rails. The support bracket for the 06-07's attaches to a milled oval spacer block that fits between the side rail and the rear turn signal.
i have a 07 street bob and bought some compact slants for it, no signal relocation required, but i didn't use support brackets at all, i just let em hang frree and zip tied them to a couple of out of the way spots on the bike,
is there a good reason that your supposed to have support brackets?
The kit says it's for a 91 to 05 so you should be fine. You need the supports so that your not trying to attach the bags to any moving parts like the shocks or the swingarm and you don't want the bags flopping into the drive pulley or the brake disc.
Dave I installed these on my 2000 Superglide. (10 1/2" between mounting holes). You have to remove the blinker and reroute the wire through the hollow shoulder bolt (as shown in your picture). The bolt screws on the blinker, throught the hole in the bag bracket and through the fender. Mine had a threaded plate, with prongs, inside the fender. This is to hold the light wire in place.
Somehow I ended up with 3 sets of these; I'll give you a set for shipping chgs if you want it.
I do not have the bolts or nuts. I'm not an ebay seller so I dont have a clue what shpg chgs would be, but I would be ok with 6 or 8 bucks. Let me know. (BTW-chrome is in good/excellent condition). Jim
Hey,
Sorry to jump in, but I just bought a great set of saddlebags for my '06 Superglide and I'm having trouble figuring out if I need the saddlebag supports AND the turn signal relocation kit, and if I need one or both, which ones to get... I can't find any saddlebag supports on hd's website, though I did find the TSR Kit...
Any help would be appreciated, becaue this bike is my main transportation and I need to carry stuff...
