Fuel problem or computer reset
I am a new member of the forum.
Previously I had DYNA FXD 1996.
Now I'm riding the WIDE GLIDE 2010.
The question is ...
First, what is the real size of the fuel tank?
On the purchase I was told he was 19 liters.
I rode it to the limit of the fuel even when the fuel light was on.
The next day I moved him and rode to the gas station and he stuttered until he stopped.
I pushed him about a kilometer to the gas station and entered just 15 liters.
Then the fatigue began.
I was on the freeway after I had missed the speedometer.
After 156 kilometers, the fuel and motorcycle lights stammered, and after a short time was stopped after 176 kilometers.
I called out something that brought me a gallon of fuel and drove on.
When I entered the gas station, I got only 10 liters. Where else is 5 liters and why is it stopped?
It happened to me again.
After 10 liters the motorcycle stopped altogether.
Today I rode it only 40 kilometers when the fuel tank was full and when I got to the targets, the fuel light went on.
My friend played and tried to reset the computer.
It looked as though he had not succeeded but when he followed me to the gas station, I filled another 4 gallons that was strange after a 40-mile drive.
Anyway-I moved the motorcycle and all the gas lights went on and suddenly it appeared that I had another 320 miles of driving.
It seems as if everything has worked out.
I took the motorcycle back to the gas station and filled the tank again, and it was only a liter and a half. Which is normal. 21: 1
But he shows me that I have another 294 miles.
Is everything okay or go to the garage? Or if something knows what to do and how to reset the motorcycle computer step by step.
I'm going to ride this week with a gallon of 4 liters fuel on my back and see if the problem died.
Does anyone know the interest?
I have a 2009 and my fuel gauge has never worked properly.
There is no electronic diagnostic test to determine if it's the sending unit or the gauge itself.
Many of us have simply determined our MPG (MPI) and use the trip odometer to determine range.
You say you ran the tank empty to determine full range,, that I'm afraid may be part of your stalling problems.
Dirt and contaminates accumulate on the bottom of the tank,, when the fuel-pump is forced to use the bottom tank reserve it picks up much of those contaminates.
Your in-tank fuel filter is probably plugged with contaminants,, so much so the pump may be starving for fuel.
Change the filter,, determine your fuel consumption rate and use the odometer.
So that's what I'm doing. I reset the mileage meter and want to refuel every 250 kilometers.
I'll try to drive this way on the current tank and if everything works out then it's good. If I do not go into the garage.
But does something know how to step by step to reset your computer?
also, just for future Q’s...always state the following
yr of bike
model
mileage
any mods
this information helps us help you...that way we are not guessing
Which "computer"? The Engine Control Module? The Speedometer display?
If you go here you can find the Owners Manual (in your language) for your bike that will offer you all the info the owner can do.

Actual fuel consumption or Air/Fuel mix - engine controls of the ECM requires a trip to the shop for computer with proper program or an after market tuner like the Power Vision;

The computer that runs your bike cannot be reset like a laptop or PC. It's not clear to me why you think you need to do that.
So I will try to open and dismantle the fuel connection where in the past the faucet was clean and clean.
The curious thing is that the motorcycle seems to be getting a command to turn off the engine after 10 liters even though there is another 5 liters in the tank

Replace/Change the filter if possible.
Check and clean all wire connections while it's apart.
Hopefully you can stop getting the low fuel signal.
