All the talk is on how the new 96's run hot. I'm thinkin' that may be nice this winter when the temps are in the 20's. The coldest I ever ran my Sporty to work in the morning was 18 deg. F and the carb was not happy at all. I know the fuel injected bikes don't sound or idle like the carb bikes but I'm hopin' the cold starts will be a heck of a lot easier. I ride all year with no shield and no heated gear, and there's nothin like ridin when there's snow along the road! AND THERE'S NO BUGS!!!! Anybody else? Let's hear those stories!
When I picked up my Super Glide this Spring, I had to ride it to work. I had several mornings in the 20's and some right at 30. Bike started up and ran with no problems. Nice having some heat at a stop sign or light. The rides were 31 miles one way, mostly on back roads. Only my finger tips and toes were a little frosty.
In NM it usually does not get to cold, did not see many days under 30 this year. Yeah in the cold my 07 lowrider is rather nice. No issues getting it started and kinda warm at the stops although my ride to work is only 7 miles.
A co-worker and I both ride all year...and both of us have more ***** than brains...and one of us would never tap out knowing that the other one may ride...It doesn't get super cold here in VA(I'm from upstate NY)but we did a week in the twenties including a ride home in the snow...funny thing is we both take a day or two off in August because of the heat...Go figure...
I ride all year long. Under 40 degrees really sucks. The trip to work is about 16 miles one way. Making that trip at 6 in the morning can really bite. I've made it to work in the morning with my hands and legs literally in pain before. It takes about a couple hours to thaw out completely. It's also really fun trying to undo your helmet and go inside and use a computer with fingers you can't feel...I wonder if the heated grips might take care of that this year?
