okay I'm new here so bear with me bump started or push started my Dyna 08 Fat Bob the other night and went fired up God awful knocking in the engine is there a possibility I've been hurt on or something else and if so is going to hurt for me to start it again
First off, fix the issue requiring you to push start the bike...also check the oil to ensure she's at proper level(s).
As stated already, push-starting shouldn't really hurt your ride, but I wouldn't make it your routine b/c it does cause some stress on gears/clutch/drivetrain...
And the fuel pump has to have enough power to turn on too.
Yes, for sure!
I should've clarified... You're probably out of luck if push-starting due to zero electrical power... But if there just isn't quite enough juice to turn the starter fast enough, or if there's an issue specifically with the starter, push-starting shouldn't be an issue.
So you're saying that it would not bend a rod or anything like that right I had a friend tell me that if you instead of second if you did it first it might bend the rod or even break a piston and I'm afraid that's what I've done man it's been a rod because there's a god-awful clanking and I just changed my oil there's no reason I don't have an oil leak mold good
I can't see anyway bump starting a bike could cause damage. It's only turning the crank like a starter motor would. There are far bigger forces on the con rods and Pistons when the engine is running.
