What does it feel, look, or test like when the front motor mount is done? Would you have to do the front at the same time as the rear, or does it make any difference?
Is there any point to doing any sort of alignment until they're both known to be good?
Most of the time if the front is shot, the front exhaust pipe will either touch or be so close to the frame down tube that it will hit while running. There is also a visual inspection that you can do.
Usually riders complain of increased vibration and or the dreaded dyna wobble becomes more pronounced....
The rule of thumb is to do them both at the same time. Now depending on how many miles are on the bike you might be able to get away with just the front.
Dont screw around with the factory one, get a predator, sputhe, CCE or any other high quality mount. I have a predator just waiting to go on.
And YES you need to do the power train alignment....F86 has a great write up on how to do it....do it right and your bike will ride better then new...cause it will actually be aligned.....

Yeah I would like to plan ahead for the motor mount, and get either the Big Bear Performance one or the Predator one. I haven't really read up on which one yet since it's down the road, but it won't be another stock one.
I Consider Going to a Predator Mount one of my better Mods, and was a good time time to Relocate the Filter as well to keep Oil off the new mount, Voltage Regulator, and Stator Wiring as well ..
go predator and change the rear out with an oem unit and shave the hump off the rear. thank me later. i personally did the front and tried to leave the rear. that didnt last. once i replaced the rear that i shaved before install it has been buttery smooth.
Well it's cheaper to use the factory replacement. After all, you bike was smooth when you bought it right? Problem is that they tend to collapse over time, and rubber hardens with age. I just replaced my rear with a factory one, and nearly all of the vibration is gone.
