Hey guys, need a second opinion on something. Ive been fixing bikes (harleys) on the side for a while and i seem to be stumped, maybe over looking it. I have a 2012 street bob and the rear tail lights/ fuel gage stop working. The blue wire from fuel gage runs to running lights and seems to go threw bike to power lights. Ive dissconnected the whole bike and seem to have a short to ground. Ive done all the basics and when i hooked my power probe to that circuit i get "short to ground". When the key is turned on, it goes back to "open". Infront of rear tire is a square rubber like block that the harness runs into and my short tracer seems to put me in that location. Am i over looking something, please let me know. Second opinions are great so lay it on me.
was as there any mods done to the bike prior to this happening? If so start there, if not it sounds like your on the right track although electrical issues are not my forte
May sound stupid but did you check the fuses first? The area you are talking about is the main wiring harness/ battery area under the seat, left side is all the electrical....
There arent any fuses. The bcm has resetable breakers in it. There are only 3 fuses, main, batt and p&a i believe. If i cut that block to get at harness, il have to glue it closed. Just hoping thats the short.
