I am looking at a used 2006 FXDL and the owner is saying it's a 96ci. I have read some spec articles stating the 2006 was an 88 and also some articles that say its a 96ci...which is it? I would go look at it but it's a 2 hour drive and do not want to waste my time if it's a 88.

It should be an 88 unless its a stroker. The 96a wasnt out till 07. If I may ask, why is an 88 a waste of your time?
Stock it is an 88. They could have stroked it to a 96 or bore it to a 95, 97, or 98. I'd ask what engine work was done to it before questioning the ci.
I am in the hunt for a 96ci because I currently have a 2011 FXDWG I will essentially be trading for the low rider, I am not going to trade in to down grade to a smaller motor. I plan on bumping it up to a 110" and want to stick with the 96" base. I will say the 88 is tempting too as there is MUCH more used inventory on Craigslist etc.. of the older FXDL. I have never personally ridden an 88ci bike but I have noticed much less availability in big bore options. 98" is the largest I have seen available. I talked to the owner and he realized it was in fact an 88ci and changed the ad.
