hi....
2012 Superglide custom
46km
custom wide front end.
17 rear, 19 front spoke Harley wheels (stock).
i am looking to change either the front tire and or the whole wheel and tire depending on whats available...
i have been looking and googling tires but cant find what I want....
My ideal set up would be matching sizes front and back. 160 width for 17 rim (stock rear). The though is to get a rear wheel the same as what I have now and mount it on the front. I want to match the tire sizing and run a 160 on the front. The kicker is I also want wide white walls.....
So the question is:
is there any company that makes a FRONT wide white wall tire in a 160 width for a 17 rim (4.5)
Or at least a 140/70/17?
Or
Can I use a rear tire flipped for rotation on the front? Seems like the only 160/ 17 wide white wall is a rear tire...
Just curious as to why the 160 up front is not a good idea? Lots of guys are going to the fat tire look, I have always run a fat tire on the front but they were all 16" 140 wide I think....this is the 1st bike I have run with a 19" and I hate the skinny tire. It tracks the tar snakes really bad and I just hate the way it looks and feels . If I could put a 120 or wider on it I would but its a 2.5" rim so the widest I can go is 110. Since that is to narrow for my liking I thought Id just switch to a 17" front to match the rear wheel. Never thought it would be so hard to find a tire in the size I want.
Remember guys, I don't need advice on How to do it, just whats available in the 160 size w/ White walls preferably.
Again If I can't use a front tire, can I run a rear tire on the front?

It will slow down the steering even more, on a motorcycle that already steers very sluggishly. a 120/70 would steer much lighter, quicker, and more accurately.
There are many tires in the 160/60R17 rear and 120/70R17 front sizes that are great. You could probably apply wide whitewalls to them if that's what you want.

This is interesting...how does one apply white walls to it, is there a paint or technique for doing this? If its possible then any brand of tire would work if I can make it a whitewall...
