voltage regulators
1990 FXR...eats voltage regulators. Well, seems like every 2 yrs one goes to hell.
and , starter relays die every 2 yrs or so. ? ??
I will carry spares as so I won't be stranded again.
Any ideas ?

Review the sticky for checking your electrical system. If not in the Dyna section, try the Evo Classic section.
For new try Cycle Electric. I'm now using a CompuFire 3-phase 40A regulator and rectifier as I wanted more amps vs. stock due to running a few more items requiring electricity.

I put a Cycle Electric regulator on my 02 Dyna back in 2007. Been pretty good to me, but in your case I would do an alternator diagnosis, check the Electrical,DIY testing the alternator

A poor ground will take out a regulator make sure it's metal to metal... As for Cycle Electric you can't go wrong.. American made and are the best you can get. A 32 amp charging system will provide 13.1v@idle and 14.2v @speed.
