Lost bolt on front caliper 2010 FXDWG

Default Lost bolt on front caliper 2010 FXDWG
My front brakes felt weird. Looked and they were getting close to needing the pads replaced.

When I went to change the pads, I found the center bolt which goes through the hole in the pads missing.

Now, I cannot remember what was there. Is it a 12 point 10mm head? Is there a bushing around the bolt that the pads ride on?

Anyone have pics or a parts breakdown of it? Any way for me to find the part numbers?

You can go to HD store online to at lease fine the part.

I went on the HD site and when I searched, it didn't come up. Only red calipers. I don't even know what to search.

The HD corporate site sucks camel *** for that kinda thing. Use the microfiche I linked above and either buy it there or Google the part number and buy it elsewhere.

Or...you can just go the parts counter at your local dealer....

I think I need 1 part number 4564m. Is the bolt which holds the caliper together the same as goes through the big hole in the pads and the outside of the caliper? Seems like a lot of space. Do the pads just float?

Yes, you need the Bridge Bolt and yes they just float. Sorta. There are also clips in the caliper pistons that hold the pads.

Clips are to help stop brake squeal

Another good case for periodically checking all fasteners on a regular basis. Especially if servicing is done at a dealer.
