I have yet to break the 40 mpg mark on a pretty much stock 06 Bob. I've been averaging 36-38 mpg. I've run two bottles of injector cleaner through and it helpeda little bit. I bought it used from the dealer with 3,400 miles on it and Ijust passed the 5,000 mile mark. Ichanged out theH-D engine oil with a non H-D full synthetic yesterdayin hopes the mpgwill improve. I plan on taking it on a long ride next weekend to see if it's the city miles that hurt the mpg.
I keep getting a fuel low light around 110 miles and it's very annoying. With a 4.8 gallon tank, I was hoping for a little more range. I didn't buy the bike to save gas but it would be nice to ride over 150 milesbefore worrying aboutimmediately filling up or see the little gas pump light.
Other than that it has been a real hoot. I love my bike.
Yes i get lousy mileage too , and it's bone stock !!!My fuel light comes on often !! , my 1992 1200 Sportster had a 2.3 or 3.2 i forgot and i got 110 or more out that bike ![:'(]
I was getting 110+ miles per tank (3.2 gallons capacity, 2.75 available before reserve) easy on the sporty. A few times I got well over 120 before I hit reserve.
I was prepping my 2000 sporty for sale yesterday and I took it out for a quick spin. I hadn't ridden it in a couple of months. I had forgotten how powerful the 1200 is on thatbike. It'sa quick little thing. I've gotten so used to the Bob I stalled it out at the end of the street.I had forgotten how unforegiving the clutchwas on it. When it's time to go, it wants to go. I'm going to miss that bike.
I better get back on topic before they make me go to the sporty forum.
