New rider. (3 months). Got my license a month ago and now ride freeways. My last 3 tanks have been 51-52 mpg. Should I shut up and enjoy it or is it running too lean? The only mod I did was to partially drill out my stock mufflers.
Thats pretty good MGP. I'm getting about 41-43 mpg with a stage 1 upgrade. Check your plugs to see if your lean. Enjoy and be safe. Nice looking ride you have there.
I am getting between 39 and 45 with stag1 air breather and SEII pipes so enjoy the great mileage your getting All the new harleys run lean from factory.
Probably running a little lean. I was in the mid-40's until I installed a PCIII and richened up my fuel. Bike was running way hot. Now, I'm in the upper 30's to low 40's.
I did that well for mileage on a 2800 mile trip last summer. I get in the high 40s around home where county speed limit is 50 so lots more shifting and usually cannot use 6th gear, but not much stop and go traffic.

I have yet to break the 40 mpg mark on a pretty much stock 06 Bob. I've been averaging 36-38 mpg. I've run two bottles of injector cleaner through and it helpeda little bit. I bought it used from the dealer with 3,400 miles on it and Ijust passed the 5,000 mile mark. Ichanged out theH-D engine oil with a non H-D full synthetic yesterdayin hopes the mpgwill improve. I plan on taking it on a long ride next weekend to see if it's the city miles that hurt the mpg.
I keep getting a fuel low light around 110 miles and it's very annoying. With a 4.8 gallon tank, I was hoping for a little more range. I didn't buy the bike to save gas but it would be nice to ride over 150 milesbefore worrying aboutimmediately filling up or see the little gas pump light.
Other than that it has been a real hoot. I love my bike.
I've got a Stage II 95" that's been dyno tuned and I can get as much as 56mpg if I ride really conservatively and not over 60mph. Though my average riding solo is about 38mpg, running the **** out of it.
Sure, you bike is running a little lean, as are all new bikes. However, I suspect that your gas mileage is due to you being a new rider and not an air/fuel issue. You are likely easing on the gas when accelerating, cruising at or below the speed limit and basically being careful. There is nothing wrong with that. Keep it up and be safe. When you get more comfortable and start riding a little more aggressively, you gas mileage will likely go down a bit.
