2011 Super Glide Custom
It is high. I've been looking at the 2014's with a103 and there are a lot out there for under 11k. Here's a nice one..

First of all that bikes in Texas, second of all it appears to be a private seller (always cheaper) and third and most of all, it has a salvage title, it isn’t worth anything to me. Prices on Used stuff seem to be higher in the PNW than it does the rest of the world. Definetly more than Texas. The average home in my area is 450,000.
I have a 2012 FXDC (SG Custom) and it's a fine bike. The Custom is a very versatile machine that can do many things well depending on how you configure it.
$12K for a 2011 model is crazy high. That's about what you paid for them new in the day.
Current NADA retail is $7100 low, $9340 high. Somewhere in between that (maybe towards the low side) is more realistic regardless of condition.

Heck, I think I'd sell my cherry 2012 with a 103 motor for $12K !

Things always get complicated when working with a dealer and a trade in. I paid 7300 for a 2011 FXDC with about $1000 in upgrades and under 4K miles on it. I'm in the Denver area.
I guess its where you are located and what your market looks like. And the time of year is a bit of a factor, the price always goes up in the spring but now its bargain city time for a buyer.
I think the 96 inch motors are the best of the modern era if you are looking at one that is a 2007 or newer. The moco pretty well de bugged them by 2007 and in some ways they re introduced some new weaknesses when they bumped the displacement.

about the same, and I don’t know the condition of that bike down south, it looks clean in the pictures but you never know till your standing there.
When I’m looking for deals on a new bike purchase, I’m always willing to drive a bit to save some cash. To me, it’s insane to refuse to drive an hour or two if you will end up saving $1000 or more. Heck, I’d spend $30 in gas to drive 100 miles each way if it meant I was saving $250.
It’s your money, and you should spend it how you see fit. Since you are asking for opinions (the overwhelming majority of which indicate the price is too high on that Dyna you are considering), let me add this:
You can rent a motorcycle trailer from u-haul for $15 per day. Idk what your cage situation is, but pretty much any small or full size truck / SUV can handle pulling a trailer and a single bike easily. If there is a bike that is 100 miles away that is a better buy, rent the trailer and pickup the bike that way.
Im also assuming that the bike 100 miles away is at a dealer. I would also ask them to send you a proposed closing statement before you make the trip (don’t tell them about the trade yet...just get hard numbers first). I always do this when buying a car from a dealership to ensure they are not trying to pull some ridiculous fee scam at the closing table ($999 doc fee, $1499 dealer fee, $499 “walk into our showroom” fee, etc.).

I guess everyone’s circumstances are different. I’ve always had the mindset of spending time making a buck rather than saving a quarter. I would not spend the entire day driving just to save 250 bucks, but if I made 27k a year I probably would haha. Im not spending 12k on it, were at 11 with a 500 dollar gift card to spend on accessories. Which is smart on their part because they heard us discussing stuff we needed to buy for the bike anyway. This garauntees I’ll buy the stuff from them haha. So 10,500 is the price basically, and they’re buying the sportster off me for what I have it up for sale for, which actually saves me 450 bucks on sales tax too. I’m gonna try getting em down another 500 tomorrow. I think this deal is ok, not great, but good enough that I’m not gonna drive to Seattle to hopefully save some money.
