2014 Dyna Super Glide Custom - LED upgrade
Hi everyone, I am not happy about the light quality, especially when it's somewhat foggy. I think of replacing the regular bulb I got the bike with an LED one.
Yet, before installing an LED, I wanted to make sure it is a good idea and I will not ruing anything by using an LED bulb instead of the regular bulb the bike headlight assembly is designed for.
Appreciate any comments.
Ray.

Best bet in my (and a lot of others) opinion is to replace the whole headlight with an LED assembly. They use projectors in the assembly so that the light pattern is correctly distributed. The down side to a LED bulb only is that those are not made for reflector housings (ie stock housing). The assembly has been extremely affordable compared to a few years ago. I run an amazon LED assembly and have had zero issues. I think I paid 45 bucks for it and I absolutely love the light. Installation is a breeze as well

I swapped my factory bulb for a and it was one of the best things I ever did for it. 2009 Super Glide Custom. It looks great and really lights up the night.

Thanks for your comments, folks. I've got a regular (non-HID) bulb, so I can replace it with an LED.
I considered different options, including sealed LED headlight assemblies, regular LED bulbs and just quality halogen bulbs like Sylvania or Philips.
However, I still haven't selected a single solution, since I was looking for a balance between the price and quality that I will get as a result. Sealed Daymakers look sharp and I've seen many good reviews on them, but the price of $900-1400 kinda stops me (link). There are many lights that look similar to Daymakers, but I am not sure about the quality. I've heard Pro Comp offers a lot of stuff for off-road, so will see what kind of reviews their LED lights have. The simplest way out will be to go with the regular bulbs, but they won't look as cool as Daymakers.

This is a pretty popular topic with quite a few established options.
Daymaker is overpriced, but if ya gotta have that bar and shield...
The Wismec and Sunpie clones (eBay or Amazon) are best bang for buck.
The JW Speaker lights are the best quality.
Adaptive tech is generally considered "worth it"
H4 drop in LEDs are a crap shoot. Personally, I wouldn't bother. Just do the Wismec and be done with it.
Do a search, you'll see lots. User "cvaria" has reviewed a lot of options, both affordable and expensive.
For halogen, I really like a Cibie e-code housings (glass, great beam pattern) and Philips Xtreme 130+ bulbs. (Bright, good color, decent life) but that setup isn't exactly cheap...like $125, I think?

We make a sealed assembly LED headlamp that would work well for you. Our 5.75" ProBEAM is much brighter than the stock halogen bulb, and our unit is guaranteed to be BCM-compatible--meaning it's not going to cause the bike to throw error codes. The unit is also DOT, SAE, and ECE compliant, and it has a lifetime warranty.
Law Abiding Biker did a recent review of the headlamp on his YouTube channel. He has some good comparison shots between the stock halogen and the ProBEAM lamp he installed.
