Default Fxr4

I am on the prowl for a new bike. I have always owned touring bikes but really like the versatility of Dynas
I like to own things that you do not see every day and knowing that the FXR4 in orange only had 316 produced is dam appealing

I have a healthy budget so i can shop much newer but this FXR4 with only 8000 Miles is clean and only 9 grand
I would re do some Engine work so i have more Jam then add exhaust
Any other ideas that the bike would benefit from?

Or to guys who have ridden both old and new Dynas Is it just better to go newer with mods?

First and foremost.... the fxr4 is not a dyna. Second the fxr4 is a great bike choice and will be super fun. They are lighter than a dyna and can be made to be more fun with a cam and some headwork. Buy it and enjoy

Personally I would leave the engine alone exhaust bars seat and suspension would be my upgrades while retaining original parts. Hate to see such a limited production bike butchered motor wise

Ok good input .. That personal preference or would it just wreck overall value??
I am use to 88's that were very fast then most recently stage 1 M8
Never rode a 80 Evo I kinda assumed I would just want more jam

you probably will want more it’s not quick but in my eyes it’s more desirable the more original it is given the limited numbers. I’d buy a regular model fxr to hop up over a collectible IMO

You'll love the FXR & since you said budget wasn't a problem just replace the whole drivetrain & put an S&S 111 or 124 if it will fit & pack it up with a Baker 6spd. If you want it to look stealth you can just do it with HD cases & heads & no one would know it wasn't stock. Store the original & document the miles & go out & have some fun!

The fxr4 is kind of a mishmash of parts. 1999 up (TC) primary, evo engine and a whole list of other stuff.
