I have a 2013 Super Glide that I'm using as a basis for a project and was looking to replace the larger, chrome tank console with one of the smaller consoles either from the Wide Glide or Street Bob. I've been running under the assumption that the consoles would fit fine over my existing tank, but wanted to reach out to see if anyone could confirm if all of the tanks are the same...
I doubt they are the same because the Super Glide tank is a 5 gallon tank and I believe a Street Bob tank is 4.7 gallons. If the capacities are different then there is a good chance that how the consoles line up would be different also. A call to your local dealer with the right part numbers might be able to help you better than me.
Looks like you're probably right. The part numbers for the tanks and the FI top plates are different. I'm going to order a Wide Glide/Street Bob top plate and see if it matches the opening in the top of the tank.
Update: You were correct. A Super Glide (and I think a Fat Bob is the same) tank is not the same as a Wide Glide or Street Bob. The FI top plates are different and the opening for a Wide Glide/Street Bob FI top plate is narrower. I just ordered a very good condition Street Bob tank. Crossing my fingers that it will mount on the frame.
The tanks themselves are completely swapable and will bolt on. Plugs for the fuel pump, and fuel gauge are the same. The plug for the gauges on the tank may be different. If so, you'll need the harness that comes out of the steering neck, to the gauges for whatever tank you're running. Not the bike it's going on.
Thanks for that. I already have a Street Bob harness. The only difference I can detect is the light bar (signals, etc) is a different shape/size for the different console shape/size.
