Honestly, I believe that you will receive a ticket, when you give them a reason to stop or take notice of you. Think of the many ways people will attract attention. Revving your engine for no other purpose than to make noise, Speeding, not stopping, illegal turns etc etc.

Yup! It's an idiot ticket. If you're acting like an idiot, stunting, gunning the motor and such, you'll get pulled over and wrote up for your pipes also.

You said "new BS fine"..........I thought it has alwas been illegal here (Calif) to have modified exhaust? Has the VC been changed?
I don't think anyone will get cited unless they ask to be........by speeding, high revving, clowning, etc etc

With the higher fine it is more an incentive to pull people over. Also in the new law excessive sound is determined by the officers opinion. They no longer need to establish your db level. It's completely subjective. That's what is scary

I was with a group riding to Destination Daytona at Bike Week quite a few years ago and while sitting at a stop light the police walked up and pointed us to the side of the road for an "equipment check".
One officer had a stick about four feet long and was sticking it the exhaust pipes to check for baffles. One of the guys drilled a hole through his pipes and inserted a long bolt which could not be seen. When the cops stick would not go all the way in (straight pipes) my friend just said Competition Baffle and the cops let him go as the others got tickets for thier apes being to high. Go figure.

99% of the riders will be fine. They should have called this the "Probable Cause" law....

Yup....I try not to draw attention while riding. The exhaust is loud enough without show off stunts.

Didn't someone post in here that the new exhaust law was exempt to bikes and trucks over 6K lbs?
