Fab 28 verses Thunderheader
I just dropped off my bike to Fab28 for a custom exhaust. I have had the TH on my bike. Tanner (who builds the custom exhausts) started up a bike he just finished. It sounded good. It sounds different from a TH, but is it good.
Also, your compression is also going to have a huge influence on how a pipe sounds. Going from a ratio of 9:1 to 11:1 is going to change completely the sound and the snap of the exhaust. It can go from quiet to loud with just compression only.

Lets start with what your "build" is going to be first. I don't see those details, like motor plan or bike (I could assume the bike is the RG in your pic tho)
Second, just a preface I am and have been for a long time a diehard TH fanboy. Ive only ran them on my Harleys, from stock to fully build twin cams and evos. If you love your TH sound, like said already, you flat out are not going to like the Fab 28 in comparison, additionally I will go as far as to say ALL of those shorty cone style pipes (fab 28, Sawicki, even Bassani) sound very similar, especially in the way the differ from TH. I don't really know how to describe their sound other than not TH haha, but that's not to say any of them are bad in anyway, hell the quality of all of them are better than TH. You can also get them in stepped or straight 2" primaries which are a MUST if you plan on going bigger than 113" or so on your motor.
I only recently strayed away from TH and that was because I needed larger primary headers for my 131 evo FXR and TH flat out doesn't offer it unless you are a bagger. So I shopped and asked around for months and finally bought the LSR pro stock from RB Racing. All I gotta say is holy sh*t! It sounds like a TH on steroids, no joke. Im a believer in the LSR and while I still love my TH I have to say I am very pleased.
So WTF does all this really translate to you for options? haha. Well if you are mildly building your motor in your RG, meaning no need for larger primaries, Id say shorten your TH if you really want a shorter pipe instead of buying another brand, although I don't think you will see any benefit of a shorter pipe. If building larger than 113 or so Id say the X series full length TH would be best to keep that sound you said you love
