Default FXDB corroded ignition switch

Hi all
I have a 2008 FXDB which I bought new and it has about 126,000 km on it now.
The motor is stock inside and never been apart, it still has the original clutch which I think is pretty good given the burnouts and wheelstands it used to do....It has a thunderheader 2 into 1 which in my opinion is a great exhaust and given that it only has a screamin eagle air filter and module, it puts out 80 hp (not much I know ) but 95 ft lb of torque which is great off the lights...
For a while now every now and then the indicators didn't work and after a while I was riding one day and decided to touch the key when it happened and they started working again.
Also the battery didn't seem to be holding its charge for long which was a bit perplexing but I couldn't find anything wrong in the charging system.
Recently I went to start it after getting fuel and it lost all power.
After getting it home it started again. Strange..
Anyway I kept riding it and after work it lost all power after cranking a couple of times.
Being just down the road from the local dealer (not my first choice trust me) I was in a pickle so pushed it down there. I told them I thought it was a worn ignition switch.
Eventually they looked at it and charged me $171 to clean up the negative terminal which they said was loose and melted.
I wasn't happy and my gut feeling said there was something else wrong but I took it home and parked it.
5 days later I went to start it and it just cranked over but wouldn't start - just great I thought...
After going through the great forums here I decided to check and replace fuses and system relay. No change. Then it was the fuel pump.
Before I tested it I kept thinking about the switch so pulled it out and apart and bingo it was corroded.
after a clean it started !!
Hope this can be useful to someone and save money and pulling out your hair !

Many stories of those switches going bad. Having a new one laying around wouldn't be a bad idea.
