Hey guys, Im new to this forum. The username is Texasstreetglide01, but I decided to sell my street glide & keep my dyna wide glide. Long story short, I bought this bike in vero beach from a small car lot that took it in on a trade. I was in love and excited being my first Harley. Growing up, my dad had a FXDWG and I loved the looks of it. Anyways, it was ugly as hell, cut out, idled rough, and was considered an eye sore to most people, but to me it was perfect! Ill post a picture of the day I bought it, and a picture of it now. Ive done 99% of the work myself except the paint job. Please share your experiences and pointers as to what to change next. A few things Im debating is a solid rear wheel off of a fat boy, progressive 11 shocks, and trying to find a rear tail light option to replace the big stock one. This was the day I rode it home from vero beach to Melbourne Florida This is where Im at with it currently. Still wanting to drop the back a little but not sure which shocks to go with. I want the 11 progressive enclosed shocks instead of exposed springs. Thoughts?
I like what you have done so far. Looks great. Will be interesting to see with solid rims. I like the spokes but post a picture if you go with the solid’s.
Also if you want to use an OE style Soild wheel, 03-06 Softails look the same as the others but have a slight offset difference to the Rest ... keep that mind
Yep. I think Ill have to stick with a fat boy rear wheel. A few things I have to keep in mind is on the 98-02 FXDWG they had 130 rear tires factory, but I put a 150 & it is a tight fit, but works. The factory wheel is 16x3 and the fat boy solid wheel is the only 16x3 with a 3/4 axle that Ive found. I wanted a deuce wheel but it would be too wide

I'll assume you know a Fatboy IS a Softail ... so I'll repeat and add to
"OE style Soild wheel, 03-06 Softails look the same as the others but have a slight offset difference to the Rest" ... The Rest being 00-02 Softail (including the fatboy) and 2000-07 Sportsters.
Stay with 2000-later wheel as they are Sealed Ball bearing wheels (opposed to Taper Roller) and your existing Pulley and Rotor will fit better

Looks good. Except the rear exhaust needs to be rotated clockwise where it fastens to the head, so it parallels the front exhaust curve.
Lol yes sir I agree! Its freedom exhaust and I didnt have the correct bracket for mounting it. So they are somewhat loose fitted at the moment. They mailed me the right bracket last week and the bolt holes were about 1/4 inch off. Nothing a vice & a good drill wont fix 😬😬😬😬
