Gas gauge cap issue.....info.
One of the most annoying things I have had to deal with on my four year old FXDL is the gas gauge cap not wanting to remain tightly fixed in the bung. I constantly had to reach down and push it back into place, only to find it loose again a few miles down the road. I did a search on this forum and found some old threads and found several of you have had the same problem but did not find anything that seemed to be a good fix. I just thought I would share my latest attempt at solving the problem and so far (a couple hundred miles later) it seems to be holding well. I have tried using electrical tape wraped around the plastic tabs but that didn't work, it was too slick I guess and simply pushed the cap up even quicker. But my last attempt was to put a thin strip (about 3/8") of duct tape along the inside upper rim of the bung and so far it has held up well. The cap is tighter than it has ever been. Just thought I'd share.
