I've tried out listening to bluetooth audio through a donated Sena SMH-10. They were free hand me downs so maybe are in rough shape? However, the sound sucked. Has anyone had good luck with something like this? They picture one example with the speakers mounted to the crash bars. I'm already running aux lights (LED), oil cooler fan, phone charger, and Power Vision off the stock Dyna electrical system. Amplified Motorcycle Speaker System
or am I just better off sticking to my old standby of just listening to my D&D Fat Cat and leaving the tunes to the baggers?
I bought 7.5 inch bucket light casings and put 6.5 inch speakers in, then mounted them to my crash guard and put an amp in the handlebar bag.Ran a cord to my phone and that was it. Plenty loud and around 300 bux.
I had a set of the Bar mounted bluetooth speakers that Indian use on their bikes, They absolutely rocked, loud and clear at highway speeds. Removed them though because I literally didn't use them as often as I thought I would and they looked kinda silly sitting on the bars.
I'm pretty satisfied with my RAM phone mount. I've pretty much decided to invest in the Motorcycle Tunes system
Thanks for mentioning them. My speakers are fairly old Pioneers that have 1/3 of the nominal handling as the Kicker KS 4" speakers Motorcycle Tunes uses and I have been peaking them out at times at highway speeds. I may have to order a pair of their speakers for my amp.
I admit speakers just sitting on the bars do mess up the clean look but riding from Washington to Cali later this year I am definitely gonna need something since I don't wanna wear my full face helmet in the middle of summer in the desert again.
I ran a Plex audio for a bit. Blew the speakers on the first setup after using it like 3 times. They gave me new speakers under warranty and it sounded like they were going to go bad after a couple of months too.
Maybe I ride too fast too often and the RPMs drown out the music, and its true, yes you can hear the music but you cant really listen to it. The more wind noise and higher RPMs you have going, the more the music drowns out. You can hear someone singing but cant distinguish the tune unless you look down at your phone to see what song is playing. Its kind of like a siren off in the distance and youre tilting your head to see where its coming from.
For me, it was cool around town and on mellow freeway riding with heavier traffic (hey anything else to help them hear you coming), but honestly, it kind of loses its lure after a while. For a little bit you feel cool and its fun to be Mr Big at the stop lights blasting some Tupac, but after you pull into work and coworkers make comments about how they heard you blasting some gangsta rap 4 blocks over or everyone stares at you leaving the parking lot, you feel like kind of a douche. It starts bringing unwanted attention. There goes that idiot blasting his music no one wants to hear again.....
In summary, MY OPINION (which no one asked for) is that the tunes are never going to sound on your bike the way that they do in your car in the freeway. The bass gets drowned out and you become a spectacle on surface streets. If its not factory on your bike like a bagger (which you pay dearly for) its really not worth it to buy and install. Do ear buds or Bluetooth system.
The fat cat is loud but I use an amp with handlebar mounted speakers. These guys have the best handlebar speakers and they pair them with some very well performing amps that have a lot of functionalityhttps://www.steelhorseaudio.com/

The Kuryakyn Road Thunder Sound Bar has also caught my attention. Something like that would be much more low profile than speakers. John Maxwell on YouTube did a review and gave it a glowing recommendation. I am curious on how well it would do with no windshield though. https://www.kuryakyn.com/products/61...ar-plus-by-mtx
