Default Hogworkz install help needed. (2014 FXDF)

I have read about some minor modification of the plug when installing these lights. The plug on the bike won't accept the new male plug on the Hogworkz light (I'll wait for the laughing to die down). Could someone help me understand what needs to be "trimmed" to ensure proper seating? I've read that people have used a Dremel to "trim" the plug but I'd like to have some specifics. A guy did a good YouTube vid for the install but I'd prefer not to tape the connection.

Yup, had the same problem. The prongs fit into the plugs but the plastic locking latch would not flip into place. I chose to push the plugs together and wrap a zip tie around both plugs and tighten it. Definitely not what I wanted but it's a solid connection that I don't think will come loose. Dremel option may be better but I was reluctant to follow it.

Zip tie sounds better that electrical tape. I'm not knocking anyone's approach,I just want to make it fit. I appreciate it. It's good to know that if I do that, it's going to be alright.

Default Update

So, I think that the modification information I was reading had to do more with the seating of the headlight. I had to Dremel the edges of the inside so it would seat properly but I still have a problem getting the light to latch on the top. Not sure how to get these suckers in far enough.

Default Update II

I figured it all out. I'm going to post a "how to" with pictures to help anyone who may have a problem like this in the future. The issue wasn't with the connectors, it was with the headlights themselves and the small metal fins in the headlight housing. These headlights have a small lip around the edge that I had to use a Dremel to modify. By that I mean cut larger or new slots into the metal. It wasn't extremely difficult but that's why they would not seat correctly.

OP, how do you like the lights now after having them for a while? What was the situation with the connectors? In the OP you said that they didn't fit together but your last post said that connectors weren't the problem. I saw in another thread that someone using the MoonMC lamps made extra room in the buckets by redoing and cleaning up the wiring. Makes sense that these buckets would be short on space back in there.

Do you have pictures of them on your bike or the slots you made? I think I'm gonna go with the chrome coloured ones.

The connections ended up not being a problem. I just used some electrical tape to make sure they stayed put. ended up lining the lights up and using a marker to show where I needed to use a Dremel and create larger slots on the headlight for the "fins" that line the headlight casing. I'll post pics tomorrow if you'd like.
