I hadn't liked the cowbell horn, and the skull horn cover wasn't much better. I just tried a blacked out cover and realized I didn't like that either and I heard that you can get some better airflow to the rear cylinder by relocating the ignition coil. Trouble was figuring out where to put the horn. Under my seat already has my LED controller for my signals and a garage door opener with a switch on the battery box and I didn't want to clutter it up any more. I had put a fairing on this winter and realized I had some space behind it and really just needed to drill a hole in the support bracket to mount the horn. So I got to work Saturday morning with the DK Customs Ignition Coil Relocation Kit. http://www.dkcustomproducts.com/99-u...ation-kits.htm I lifted the back end of the tank then removed the horn and the front of the fairing and mounted the horn.
From there cut the horn connectors off the original harness and routed my new wire to get the proper length and made an extension harness.
Hopefully I didn't make the ends too stiff as there certainly is some tension at the connectors when I hooked it up with those crimp splices. I'll keep an eye on it. I routed the ignition coil extension wiring that came with the kit under the tank and mounted the ignition coil. Used a new spark plug wire kit from Sumax https://sumax.com/product/8mm-pro-sp...stom-fit-sets/
Tested that everything still worked and no stretching or pinching of wiring at the neck then put the fairing back on. Put some allen bolts in the holes left from the original coil location and some chrome caps so it didn't look so odd.

but I painted it, swapped the windshield for the Rifle windshield, and put on the JDCustoms anti-buffeting kit. I hear the JD Customs windshield fits better than the Rifle though. https://jdcustomsandfabrications.bigcartel.com/product/fxdxt-fairing-windshields
