The 2008 Wide Glide is a limited edition and only available in the US. Take a look at the spec sheets for what is new on the 2008's. http://www.box.net/shared/tjuvmyyybz
Maybe you'll take a step back and realize that all you read on the forum is not 'gospel' according to MOCO. No one ever got an actual statement from MOCO, all rumor type stuff and yes some of it was from dealers (stealers).
H-D said they deceided that they would make the wide glide a anniversity edition, and the 08 would be the last year.
I got a 07 model and have done a 103 upgrade to it among other things. I really like my 07 Fxwg. It will probally be the last bike I ever own . Have no regrets of buying it. HD has tigthened the swing arm frame up, got a good cam plate tensioner and come out with a stroker motor, and I really like the 6 speed transmission.
I have always loved the Wide Glides. Was sporty guy forever, and finally bought a WG in 06. Sure am glad. I love my WG. The 07 got the bigger motor which ticked me a little, but I will do a 103 upgrade after a few years anyhow so it is no big deal. Anyhow, if they are not going to make them anymore, I am that much happier I have my 06. It is cool that the last WG is in anniversary colors, but (and correct me if I am wrong) havent all WG's had some type of flame on the tank? just an observation...
Yup.....thats the only thing I dont like is the plastic peice on the lower rear fender...and thefact that the06/07 WG's didnt come with a sissy bar,but thats fixable. Anyhow, looks like the "bob craze" is taking over.
Man I had Mh90 21 dunlop tires on front, I stuck a metzler mh80 21 on. I had a 160/70 17" Dunlop on back, I got a metzler 170/60 17". The tires ride better and hang the road better. The back tire is more rounded now. The lower profile cleared the fender good. I could of went with a 180/55 17" on the back. The lower profile makes the bike ride a little rougher if yer riding 2 up and hit some places in the road hard. but over all I like the heck out of the metzler tires. I looked at RC componets, They don't sell 17" tires. They suggested a 180/55 18 on back and said it was as big as I could go with the 18" rim.
But for a all around riding bike and with the lean angle on the WG it has to be about the best all around scooter for me. I can ride 200 miles in one direction and back with no problem. I don't cross several states so a bagger would be too much motorcycle for me to ride everyday.
I know H-D says 2008 will be the last year and I got a 07. But I hate to see the WG go.
