I have a 07 dyna super glide with
- Vance and Hines hi output 2-1 short exhaust - Arlen ness big sucker air filter
- Vance and Hines Fuelpak FP3
what else can I do that would work well with my set up so far?
In my humble (and very beginner) opinion money for performance upgrades should be spent in this order: gasoline > boring maintenance things that are all go and no show (bearings, alignment, steering head, tightening and lubricating, new battery, cables and brake parts) > mid-controls > tires > front suspension (heavy springs, oil) > rear suspension > seat (my Saddlemen seat is a performance upgrade to me) > risers/handlebars > levers.
I guess intake/exhaust upgrades could be first but without a good tuner it made things worse for me, and I would put some of my list ahead of an expensive tuner. I think hopping up the engine on a bike that doesn't really handle (ie perform) well is uh... ...well it's not what I would do.
Like stated....Get ready to hand out some money. Sounds like your already "Stage 1" so I would go cams next personally. That's what I am doing this winter
~$500 Andrews 48 cam install (capable 85/100)
~$1300 Big Bore with domed pistons to get 10:1 compression and an Andrews 57 cam install (capable 95/110)
~$2200 Big Bore with domed pistons to get 10:1 compression, Andrews 57 cam install, port heads and enlarge valves (capable 105/125)
~$3000 Big Bore with domed pistons to get 10:1 compression, Andrews 57 cam install, port heads and enlarge valves, and larger throttle body (capable 115/130)
~$4000 Big Bore with domed pistons to get 10:1 compression, Andrews 57 cam install, port heads and enlarge valves, larger throttle body, replace primary tensioner, and swap pulleys for 30/70 final drive. Never know where this ends up
Those prices are if you do all the wrenching yourself though. If you have a shop do it expect at least 50% more for each.
