Howdy all.
I am riding a 2006 LowRider and a few weeks back coming back from a ride and my tail light was hanging off. Bottom line is that the baseplate broke! Must have hit one hell of a pothole or bump... Either way, I am at my wits end trying to remove the broken baseplate to replace it and even though I can bring it to my local shop, I’d like to do it on my own. Checked the book and the forums and I can’t find anything to detail what or how to do this. Any tips would be appreciated.
Ride safe.
The wiring connectors just unplug from it. Then there are two nuts on the back and two screws on the front (where the connectors were). I screw those and it comes off. All of these steps are done after you take the twilight cover (red lense) off.
So, I broke down and took the bike in. Turns out the dam nut was rusted in place and they popped off the screw head to replace it. So it wasn't me! The attached pictures show where the screw was and where the head was popped off and the rusted nut, with the washer on the screw. Thanks for all your feedback guys.
