Default Alternative Hand Controls options

Just got my LA Choppers 16 Inch Ape Hanger bars delivered, now for the hand controls

Any recommendations for some alternative to HD Handlebar Controls. As ever, the best of both worlds sought, style and touring reliability

Thanks R

You can move the switches to another location and use these to clean up the handlebars:

Is it the style you are looing to change?
are you going to eliminate some swithes?

if you are going to use aftermarket just don't get cheap switches, they suck really bad

reliability for touring is the most important. I was looking at PM stuff, but the coin involved makes it a tough call for PM to replace the stock HD

pm stuff is high dollar for sure

honestly man the hd housings and switches are pretty good, you could change up the look with some different levers
, grips, mirrors

Well, the PM stuff is sorted out already, hence the high price. MotoGadget also has reliable switches, but it will take work and extra hardware to make everything work. You're going to spend some $$$$ anyway you slice it to change out the controls "to be different".

^^^ Right on the nose.

If your priority is function and reliability, Stock is hard to beat.

I have a fairly custom setup that ticks most boxes but it was a lot of work and a fair bit of money even with me doing the fab and labor.

One of the sorta hidden hurdles is blending the lever perches with the switch housings. Depends on how critical you are of the appearance. Various aftermarket levers are available but few offer the same level of integration with switch gear as stock.

Exile has a nice system with the Grip Ace switches and their internal throttle. I considered Grip Ace but decided I didn't want to relearn switching habits.
