This morning my new Super Glide arrived via Earl Small's Harley-Davidson in Marietta, GA. As soon as it rolled off the truck it started to rain... s***! I had things to do this afternoon, so I didn't get to ride it until 5:30 pm. Now this is a big deal- My first Harley. Aside from the little Honda I rode during my safety course, I hadn't ridden in nearly 14 years. My initial impression of the Dyna:
[ul][*]Vibrates in 1st and 2nd gear[*]Smooths out nicely in 3rd +[*]The rear shocks suck... What tool do I need to adjust the pre-load?[*]Stable like a rock in a straight line[*]Can't emulate my tight figure 8 like I did on the Honda... yet[*]Even the stock pipes turn heads[*]Need thousands of dollars worth of bling... lol[*]My wife and daughter didn't want me to buy it, but were the first to get their picture taken sitting in the saddle[*]My first half helmet - Too much wind noise![*]Need a quick-release windshield and luggage rack[*]Already thinking what my next Harley purchase will be...[/ul]
I didn't say I didn't like it - It's just different in a good way... The Harley culture overwhelms you. I'm thinking of painting my house orange and black...
A shock pre-load adjustment tool is $6 at dealer
Wear ear plugs with the half helmet it helps alot
A almost 650 pound bike is not going to turn as easily as a little 300 pound toy Honda, but practice you will get used to it.
Inform you family that from now on any extra cash you have your spending on upgrades for the bike.
As for next purchase ride for a little while and you will realize you need a new seat before you get the windshield and luggage rack, the stock seat sucks.
Congrats on the new bike. I remember when I took the safety course, the guy on the Goldwing could do a figure 8 better than the guy on the sport bike. You'll have that down in no time...thirty minutes.
