Oil Circulation Questions
The bike runs great, no mechanical noises, sounds great and runs strong through RPMs, but it runs slightly hotter than it did stock, maybe about 10 degrees F, nothing serious and well within the specified operating temperatures. I've decided to put an UltraCool oil cooler on the bike and when I went to change the oil I noticed that my FLO Reusable oil filter didn't drip hardly any oil, there was evidence oil was in there at some point but I've never had that happen when changing the oil. My low pressure light never comes on while running so I have no reason to believe the oil pressure is low but to my questions.
1 - Is it possible that the pressure could remain high enough to keep the low oil pressure light off but not circulate the oil through the filter/engine?
2 - If the answer to 1 is yes, then what would the best way to check that be?
Any input would be great.
Thanks,
Steve
Yeah, I double checked everything, changed the proper o-rings and gaskets. I found that the original tune I had from FM didn't have the Spark Advance as advanced as a map I requested from Dynojet for the same stage setup I have. I ran the map from Dynojet and discovered the temperatures returned to what I was used to. With ambient temperature variations it's tough to do an apples to apples but the ambient temps I ran both maps in were roughly the same, within 5 degrees. I think FPV's post below might answer the question that raised my suspicion about the oil circulation. I was able to confirm that by letting the bike run for a few minutes and found oil in the filter when I took it off, so it was a false alarm.
Thanks for replying, I appreciate it.
Thanks, I hadn't realized that about the FLO filter, it's my first oil change with it. I confirmed that oil is circulating by removing it after letting the bike rn for a few minutes. Live and learn, thanks for the response.
