I just picked up my first dyna (1997 FXDL) a few weeks back (pic attached below) and I just wanted to get some input on some recommendations for "must haves" or "necessary" first mods that you would recommend for someone new to these bikes. It currently has a wide glide front end, forwards on it and 3inch risers with 14 inch apes. Im not new to motorcycles I've have had a few and am mechanically inclined as well so all the knowledge you guys have helps. Looking forward to what input everyone has.
Thanks again,
Zach
P.S. If there is a thread on this already a link to it would be appreciated 🤘🏻🇺🇸
Cant comment on necessary things, but there is the EVO classic forum here.
might want to check in over there, lots of knowledge about EVOs. And we like pictures.

Thanks, ill give the forum a look and see what it's about 👍🏻
Off the top of my head I'd say air intake, exhaust, and suspension for performance upgrades. For longer term stuff, motor mounts, hydraulic cam chain tensioners, and with that many miles having the heads cleaned up and maybe the cylinders honed or bore with a fresh set of pistons.
Well, it depends on what kind of style youre looking for, your riding style and budget. First, I would get rid of the stock suspensions.
I was looking into suspension and plan on keeping the bike for a long time so i would like to put quality parts on the bike, what are your recommendations?

Thanks for the tips much appreciated, do you have any preference to companies that are well known for either top end kits or would you go a custom machine work route, would in time like to pull more power out of it so the more reputable parts/brands you can recommend would be great.
