Default Oil drip continues

Good morning riders.

My 2002 Low Rider continues to vex me with this incessant drip from the drain plug. I’ve tried everything. Plumbers tape. Less torque. More torque. 2 o-rings. No o-rings.

I’m about ready to weld this mother-f@&$er shut.

On a happier note...it is Friday.

Has it been repaired with an insert or helicoil? This is how it should be below below the repaired one.. Any repair then needs a flat surface and a face gasket. Safer to replace your pan since you can do that on a Dana. A face gasket plug will not stay tight. Why Harley makes it a MS fitting. Oring goes down in bevel and plug sits metal to metal for torque.

Your pan probably has a crack in it next to the threads of the drain hole. Drain, clean thoroughly and spray brake cleaner on the area and look real close. If it is cracked, replace the pan as stated above.

One way to inspect is take pics (macro setting and flash on) then zoom them on your PC monitor. You can see damage an unaided eye would miss.

Can you verify for us which of the three drain plugs you're discussing? They each have their own idiosyncrasies...

Sure it's not leaking from somewhere else and just showing up at the plug?

It tends to be messy (when I apply it) but I use liquid teflon. I think that stuff would seal even if only finger tight. lol

Hope its not a cracked oil pan.
