The one and only time I placed an order with Parts Direct it turned into a nightmare similar to yours and I ultimitely had to dispute the sale via my CC company.

Sounds like they don't want to get suck with any inventory. I doubt they ever keep any of those in stock at all.
Maybe they order them from Dennis Kirk then stick it in their box to ship to you. [:-]

I learned my lesson this last time dealing with american motors and cycle giant when purchasing my Kuryakyn side mount and taillight. from now on I'll only deal with local dealers or reputable online places such as Dennis Kirk and J&P Cycles. I've had great experiences with both of them in the past.

I ordered my exhaust from Cyclespot and was told that they were backordered by about 2 weeks and then it would ship from the exhaust company to them by FedEx and then in turn to me for free by UPS or I could pay extra and have them rush expedite it. I stuck with the free shipping. Since it was on backorder, I asked when my card would be charged. They said the amount would be authorized to the card but not actually posted until it shipped. I got my statement and they charged it on the day I placed the order.

After I got the statement, almost a month after I placed the order, I called Cyclespot to ask where my pipes were. They told me to call back the next day as the exhaust company was already closed for the day. Next day I called and their customer service put me on hold while they called the exhaust company. Then they told me that the exhaust company was waiting to get them back from the powdercoaters (stupid black finish) and were going to call them. They said that I could call the exhaust company myself to see what the powdercoaters said or I could have Cyclespot call me. I asked them to call me.

A couple days later I got an auto generated Customer Followup email to rate their service. I replied that it'd been over a month and I was still waiting to hear back from their customer service about what the exhaust company said the powdercoater said...never heard back from them. A week later the exhaust finally showed up direct from the exhaust company. It all worked out in the end, but I am still annoyed that Cyclespot lied to me & told me my credit card would have only have the charge authorized and not posted until it shipped. Things like that make you think you're dealing with a ripoff company while you're waiting and waiting and waiting.

Now Parts Direct has posted a UPS tracking number, this is on their "track your order" part of the web site. Click the UPS tracking number and it is linked to UPS directly, Well I clicked the link and UPS does not recognize my tracking number, I really hope people read this post before doing business with Parts Direct. I will probably recieve my pipes right about the time it starts snowing in D.C.

Okay Guys I don't want to sound like I am b*tching, because I am the one who got myself into this mess in the first place. But here is the latest developments with Parts Direct and I think everyone should use my experience to make thier own informed decisions. You can access your order on the web, if it has shipped , it will give a tracking number. I clicked the link and no such tracking number exsists. So I shot another mild Nasty Gram to PD's customer service asking the status of the order number and that the tracking number did not work and that UPS said it was not valid. Now keep in mind the PD web site says "item shipped". This is PD's reply:

STILL ON ORDER. WHEN THE ITEM SHIPS, THAT TRACKING NUMBER WILL BE ACTIVATED.

[/align]WE'VE RECEIVED 8 OF THESE LAST WEEK AND THE ORDERS ARE BEING FILLED BY DATE OF PURCHASE

Had the same dealings with them in2/06.
Waited for 3 months for my V & H BigRadius.
Every time I phoned them they said I was next on the list.
There have been a few post about them on this forum.
I'm just like you, I learned the hard way. I should have did
a little research on the forum and would have found out about
other members dealings with them. There have been a few post
about them here.

Good Luck,
Kevin B.
