Hey thanks for the support, I should have done some research, but I will not wait 3 months, they actually have 12 more days and then I can cancel. The hard part will be getting a timely refund.
Boy, I have to tell you that I got pretty nervous after reading this post. I didn't do my research before ordering from Parts Direct like I should have. They had a great price and that's all I considered. I'm happy to say that I ordered a FuelPak on Sunday, and according to the UPS tracking information my package is supposed to show up tomorrow. I'll update if it does in fact show up as promised.
Everything showed up on Thursday as promised in the email. In the future, I think I'll call and check stock with a human before ordering, just to be on the safe side.
Many online dealers charge when you order. I had the same situation when I ordered though Chicago Harley which discounts by 20%. It say right on their web site "We will take a deposit equal to payment in full for all parts on every order when we process your order." It took about 3 weeks to get several of the back ordered items but I did save money going through them.
i am going thru something similar with a car part. I online ordered on a monday night, needing the part by that saturday.I orderd somewhere fairly close to my location because of shipping and fiqured it would only take a few days to get. I called the co. the next morning to verify they got the order and was going to ship it out.Well , I was informed they actually do not stock the item or even half the items they have in their store, since it would be well over 1 million dollars in inventory. Instead of florida it was now going to ship from California and would go out the next day, since they still had to order it from california.. No way it would make it by saturday, unless i wanted to buck up and pay 2 day or next day air. I cancelled the order and called a co that had the part in stock and received it in two days.
Now here's the kicker and did not know this at the time , the original co. charges 5 % cancellation fee for charge card reimbursment. Even though at the time I cancelled they had NOT charged my card only authorized. I even recievd a receipt in the mail , cancelling the order and charging the 5% as a misc part. This is outright thievery if you ask me.The co. tells me they get charged the service fees even though then order was cancelled.Charge card co. says there should have been no service fees since at the time it was only authorized.Yes, I am getting the charge card co involved since this is actually against their merchant rules.5% didn't add up to more than a few dollars but it is more the principal. what it looks like to me is they never cancelled the order but did a refund of 95%.
I ordered a new exhaust system from Go Parts Direct 21 days ago and still have not received the parts. I've now called them 9 times and every time I get a different excuse as to why I don't have the parts I've already paid for. I would very strongly not recommend this merchant!!!!
Their customer support is worthless and I have no idea what I may (or may not) receive from them. At this point, I have so little confidence in them that I doubt they even shipped me the right part. We'll see...
So save yourself a lot frustration, shop somewhere else!
Screw them back, call your credit card company and have them cancel the payment. I didit once when I had problems with a turbo kit I ordered. Be sure to do it within 30 days of the charge though.
Wish I had read this thread before I ordered from this place. I ordered an Arlen Ness big sucker, waited several days trying to see if it would give me the tracking number. Called their customer service number and spoke to a guy that tells me their computer is having problems. Like one week after I submitted the order I finally got a tracking number. Then they insist on shipping to the address my credit card bill goes to which happens to be a PO Box. Only problem is UPS doesn't deliver to a PO Box. UPS tracking shows delivery on Monday. Monday afternoon I check tracking and see a message that there is a problem with the delivery cause of the PO Box. Call UPS and arrange to have it delivered to my home address on that Wednesday. No package Wednesday.... call UPS back Thursday morning and end up having to pick up the package from UPS myself. The company should have known they can't ship to a PO Box in the first place. Secondly, the company took about five days to actually ship the order out. Took two full weeks to have the part in my hand. I have never had this problem before with a company on the internet.
Just a heads up: watch VERY carefully if you get a charge on your card plus an alert that the item is backordered. The Fair Credit Reporting Act guarantees that you have only 30 days from the time a charge appears to dispute it. If PD is actually charging your card then asking you to agree not to cancel the order for 30 days, you've actually agreed that your charge cannot be disputed with your card issuer!
Does this mean that your card issuer will not permit a dispute? Don't know, they might still permit it, but legally you no longer have dispute rights.
