I understand what you mean. When I was planning my front end I thought about an upside down fork, but decided I really wanted to keep some recognizable FXDX DNA. In my mind, that meant retaining the Showa cartridge fork. I was fine modding the internals with bits from Traxxion and Ohlins, but if the fork was replaced I would be like "why did I even start with an FXDX?"
Same for me, I’m trying to figure out improving the 39mm narrowglide on my ‘99. I could go with a mid glide and have everything I want easily, or a complete inverted, but I would lose the originality of the DX concept. Might as well have started with a streetbob if that was going to be the end result.
Totally get where you’re coming from Dave, just throwing an option out there for consideration.
