I bought a Nightster in May and love it. The plan was to take occassional trips north to Moosehead Lake, (about 3 hour drive). I bought a 2 up seat and 412 progressives and although the ride was much smoother than stock it was still too uncomfortable riding 2 up with the wife. Last weekend I went in and bought an 07 Super Glide ..... what a difference! Smoother ride, heavier, more stable at higher speeds and a lot more torque. Needless to say the solo seat is back on the Nightster and the 2 up seat has been removed, ( I'll be putting it up for sale soon). I am keeping the Nightster for local cruising and short trips and just because I love the style and raw bones feel of the ride. Anyways, if I had to get rid of one of them, (which I don't have to do), the Dyna would stay.

Wow...thanks for all the great responses. I think you've answered most of my questions. I just returned from the dealer and they didn't have any Street Bobs or Super Glides left. They did have an 08 Low Rider (105th Anniversary). I might just have to wait until some more 08s come in. I was hoping to get some kind of deal on a remaining 07, but all they have left are Street Glides, Ultras, and one Road King.

I actually think I would love the Street Glide, but it is about 20K OTD.

Hey, I went from an 883C to the Bob, I had the 883c for 1011 miles and then I did a Demo ride on the big twins and I was hooked. Traded the Sportster in the following week. I have not had any troubles with the tranistion. You should be fine, sit back and enjoy.

Let me summarize what I think you are all saying so far:

The Dynas are...
*More comfortable
*Better on the freeway
*Easier to handle in the wind
*May or may not be faster than the Sporty

My main concerns are comfort and dealing with the wind/rain. If the wind is over 10-15mph I feel like I'm getting blown around on the Sportster.

I think you are correct. If you are running long distance, 2 up, you cant beat the HD touring bikes. I own a dyna and a sportster. Do youself a favor pay the extra $4K and get one of the touring grade.

Just got back yesterday from getting my 1st service done, and the trip back was in very windy, and wet conditions. (230klm trip)
Very stable in the wind, and the comfort is very good.
I have never owned a Sporty, and have no intentions of doing so, as for all the reasons allready stated, the bigger bike is the only way to go.

went from a 1200 custom sporty to a 07 street bob and the bob wins on all counts hands down, i have a sentimental attachment to the sporty, because it was my first harley, besides the fact that its black has drag bars and looks badass
