Default 06 FXD trade??

thinking of trading my 06 FXD with 6700 miles on it for a older one with a carbuater, I just do not like the EFI Not saying I'm going to do it, so don't anybody get all excited about it, was just asking what everybody thinks, I like the 6 speed, just not the EFI

Not knowing what your beef with the EFI is, it is a bit hard to give an opinion.
With all of the tuning bits out there(power commanders etc) I would be getting it sorted out rather than going backwards.
That is only my opinion, and I am by no way an expert on Harleys.
EFI on anything has got to be better than carbies.

Bear I dont think it's a step backwards.. There are some who like the EFI and some who dont. . I hear ya ... I love the carbs also, much easyeeer to deal with at home, More selections on parts. Ride what yer use too.. If it is the right bike I'd take a carb bike any day... But I'm Old and rode Carb bikes for 30 years.. Rideing EFI now some of the time,But I dont mind pulling the **** or the warm up time... Good Luck with your decision.. Trotter

I agree with you. My 06 has already left me stranded once because the ecu connectors got wet! I'm not even a fan of the 6 speed. The only time I use is on the interstate. I found my fuel mileage was worse at 60 and under if I rode in 6th.
The only thing I like is the fatter front ends, but I wouldn't let that keep me from going 'backwards' There's plenty of low mileage carbed models out there for a decent price, I guess the problem is getting what you want out of yours. I'd say your best bet is selling private and then buying private, you should come out ahead and get what you want.

Bear, I agree bro. go for it. If I had it to do over again I'd get a used carb model. I've already spent $1,200 on my stage 1 and pipes, and I'm now looking at having to spend another 4-500 on a power comander and dyno tune cause its popping like crazy on decel. I jetted my old 1200C sporty for about $50 and it hauled *** with no popping, backfiring, nothing. The efi may be better if tuned properly, but I'm beginning to think my pockets aren't deep enough to get there. It's rediculous to have to spend $1500 on a brand new motorcycle just to get it to sound and run good. my .02.

age isone of the issues with me, I been riding since 1958 and grew up with carbs. even my 99FLHT has a carb on it, in fact it is a 44MM CV carb to go with the cams and bore kit..I'm just not comfortable with the EFI...I know some like it, more power to you, sometimes us old dogs don't really want to learn new tricks...As for converting it back to carb. well the tech. that I like and who does most of my work for me said " it would be really expensive to do that, better to sell this and buy a older one with a carb. So I'm thinking about it. bike is paid for, no big deal there and I have done a few little things to it, I like it all except the EFIsomething about it, one thing is going around a corner in town it doesn't have the same feel as a carb. it seems to lag a little on the throttle response?? or maybe it is just me..anyway thanks for the comeback guys..

The good old days

I also find carbs to be smoother getting on the throttle then EFI is.
