Mini apes that is. Will I need to replace the cables if I move up to mini apes. The harley techs said no, then yes, then they weren't sure! Right now I ride an 07 superglide with the (as someone here put it) wheel barrel grip. Every mod I want ends up making me wish I had just got a bob instead.
I just put Street Bob/Wideglide bars on my 07 Superglide Custom, and no changes to anything bar a bit of a reposition of the brake hose.
I went thru the riser saga with the standard bars, but got no joy out of that. No good with the Sundowner seat on. Bars too far back.
The pullback with the mini apes is more comfortable than the stockers.
Will ride tommorrow and see the difference.
thanks for the info. I just can't swing the $400 they quoted for installing a $49 set of bars. I would love to get the mini apes if I could keep it under $150.
Harley also has a new set in Black Matt that are 12 inches for $59.00 , the stock Street Bobs currently are 10inches , the 12's fit right on the S.Busing the stock set up ,i don't know if they the 12 incherswill work with your stock set up.
Look around for someone that put taller bars on their streetbob and see what they want for the stock cables. They should be the right size if your going with 10"-12" apes.
I did the same to my '07 Superglide. I went ahead and changed out the bars, clutch cable, throttle/idle cables and brake line with stock bob parts and it ran meabout $170 for new parts. I'm sure if you look around you could find a set of used ones around here.
