Ran across a very old thread (2012 I think) , a member (Robbie13), fabbed a very cool base plate and mounted his seat directly to the frame without any springs. I'd like to know how the rear of the seat was attached to the frame, or if it was attached at all. What do you think?
You could look at Mustang's Cyclone seat and mount (they sell them separately). The mount is fiberglass not steel, but very solid. The seats are thin, but (for my rear at least) very comfortable even for long trips. Instead of springs, they use low-profile urethane bushings, which really add to the shock absorption etc. https://www.jpcycles.com/product/561...ount-plate-kit
So you think I'd be able to run bolts up through the base plate into the bottom of the seat?
Use 2 of those 3 holes to run the bolts up through from underneath?
I know Chris at Redtail is real good about answering emails and taking custom orders. I don't know what his fastener locations are but I'm certain he would tell you. Hell, he may even have mounting ideas or setups already in place.
I would really like your opinion on this. Do you think drilling from the top down, bolting this type of hinge would work, assuming I could get a nut under that area? Im thinking a bit lower than where the tank would mount.
