Default efi and aftermarket mufflers

im told i can put aftermarket pipes and wont have any problems if i leave the stock air filter alone. I also read were the EFI is a " Learned" map since it reads both cylinders via the oxygen sensor and adjusts accordingly. If this is all true then why would i have to buy an after market tuner.

My dealer told me that they fit the mufflers, disconnect the exhaust flapper in the pipe, then do an ECM upgrade, and thats it.
They disconnected the flapper on mine at the 1st service. Still running the standard mufflers.

If you put new pipes on Like Se slip ons and put a Se air box on you can git a little more power from yer bike, but you will need a download so you don't run too lean. The new bikes come lean from the factory and the timing advanced.

2007 Bobs seem more self adjusting according to some engineers & technicians in SuperTrap, so if you are just going to add a set of slip ons then u dont need to tune ur engine or add an aftermarket device. High flow air cleaners or any other upgrade will require reprogramming.

Don't know I would say don't need something else.
H-D comes pretty lean from the factory. If you run em hard they might git hot and burn up.

Yep, I was told the same thing, if you just go with slip-ons no need to download to your ecm, Don't confuse slip-ons with pipes though. Full set of new header pipes are gonna need the hi flow filter and from what I hear, a SERT or Power commander ( $$$ ). I put cycleshack slip-ons on (sound great!) and run fine as is, will add a K&N or Kuryakyn or maybe a Ness big sucker hi-flowairfilter (can't decide, any help appreciated in advance!) and then, according to my dealer, they'll do the download to enrich the fuel supply. Don't mean to sound like a know- it- all, just tryin' to sort this out too. I read in the tech forum that the HD download sucks...don't know.
