I got that, but I didn’t get why is all. I’ve obviously been out of the loop too long.

The seat of the pants dyno says I picked up some power though and I love the way they look.

I will say $1299 sounds like a screamin deal considering what I have in the SE kit. It’s a love/hate relationship with the TH. I love the sound and performance but the finish is garbage. They really need a stainless option.

Decided to go for the TH. What the hell. This TBR pipe on it is so loud the TH can't possibly be louder.

Couldn't find one in stock anywhere, so "American Classic Motors" had one on eBay saying "one remaining in stock". Usually their stuff (I've bought from them before) is drop shipped from one of the distributors, so we'll see if I get a note on a lead time. These ship in one piece, right? I'm going to make arrangements to have it sent directly to a finisher and have black cerakote applied to the pipe and heat shields. Hopefully that helps the finish. I also understand the brackets are weak. Some companies make "indestructible" brackets. Anyone have experience with that? It's probably you left coast hooligans and your wheelies that are the most likely victims of broken brackets I expect. But another question: there seems to be another mount that bolts to the bottom of the motor, is that right? I remember a bitch of a time getting at a bolt blocked on the frame of another Dyna I had. Do I have that to look forward to?

Thanks

Ive bought tons of stuff from them. I don’t suspect you’ll have any issues. But if you do have you ever used Dennis Kirk? When San Diego Customs had 3-4 week lead time on a seat somehow DK got one to me in 2 days. I digress...
Anyway, I’ve had no issues with the mounting bracket on mine although I will say it looks like it was welded by a middle schooler... at least it’s not visible right?
As far as install, it’s pretty basic. You’ve done a 2-1 so you know the worst of it is getting both flanges aligned are the same time. There is a clamp bolt just before the collector that you have to get at from below but it’s not bad at all.

Yep, Dennis Kirk is one of my "go to's" but they're out of stock as well. NBD, I'll figure it out.

Regarding that clamp, does that go to the main bracket as well? Or to another part of the motor?

Thanks.

You don't have to take that metal plate off that bolts to the bottom of the motor. It's not in your way for the Thunderheader

That TH looks awfully low for hard right hand turns.

I have heard of at least one other guy who did have to take the bracket under the motor off because he got interference with his TH. I took mine off because it looked like crap just hanging there. You need this to do it right
