Default Differences between pre and post 2006?

I have been looking at parts for my 98 Dyna and see a lot of the parts list 2006 as a cut off point. The most recent parts I was looking at and really like is the Bung King rear crash bar. I like how it really gives protection to the primary if you go down on the left side. It appears to bolt onto the swing arm. So whats the difference in swing arms pre and post 06? I know my left side passenger peg had a funky mount that ran under the bike, but I have removed this as I do not have a passenger (wife hates bikes, but doenst care I ride, she just wont).

Quite a few substantial differences.

In 06 the swinger (among other things) changed in nearly every way. Passenger pegs bolt to the front gussets of the swinger instead of the frame like on the older bikes.

As far as I know the left side pass peg brackets under the frame were removed, but I don't know this for sure. The right side peg mount is definitely gone. 6 speed instead of 5 speed and I believe the swinger pivot axle/pin diameter changed. Somewhere post 99 the frames got wider to accommodate wider tires but I'm not certain when. I know my 99 was maxed out at 150mm and the newer bikes can swallow 200+. This may be limited to the swinger and fender struts or may also include the rear down tubes.

Also...tank and seat mounts, neck lock, entire front end, electronics, various frame specifics, etc. The Dyna gained a fair amount of weight during this period. 50+ pounds.

Not so much frame stuff from 06+ will fit your frame.

Nothing to do with the swingarm, but the front half of the frame went from 1.25" to 1.5" tubing diameter in 2006.
