there's been some discussion on passenger discomfort on the new 06 dynas possible because of the swingarm mounted passenger pegs, so if you carry a passenger (or have been a passenger) on an 06 dyna please vote....thanks
I was wondering if my bike was the only one with this issue. Our new Low Rider has very severe vibrations thru the footpegs and I am in the midst of trying to isolate it, or deal with it some other way.
My wife used to ride on my Buell (2000 X-1 Lightning), and she says that the Buell was more comfortable than my new LR. I really was hardpressed to believe this, until I took my buddy's wife for a ride and she feadback the same info as my wife.
I was thinking about placing a shim of rubber under the footpeg where it is bolted to the swingarm as a test.
Just a thought here, Don't know how the 06 differs from previous bikes in the frame area, but if the vibes are that bad because of the pegs being mounted on the swing arm, look at the previous year bikes where the WG pegs were mounted to the frame from underneath and see if you can retro fit one of the older peg mount brackets to the frame instead of the swingarm. Possibility that the mounts are still on the frame.
My wife rides on the back of my new '06 Wide Glide all the time. If I am riding, chances are, she is on the back. She says it's very comfortable and has no problems with our longer trips. Longest trip we've taken is 220 miles, so she has spent some time back there. Only thing she b*tches about is the little butt bumper sissy bar I bought her for an anniversay gift. She wants something higher, but I am waiting on the new Raptor sissy bar from Kuryakyn that's due out in January.
When I first took delivery of my new FXDI Low Rider, I bought the middle height sissy bar, with pad, and one of the standard HD winged eagles to place on the back. When my wife started to complain about the sissybar slamming her in the back, I immediately went for the next shortest bar (not the mini, but the next size up). So I have one of the longer ones in like-new condition, with badge and pad.
If you are interested I can take dimensions, and photos and e-mail them to you.
the rear footpeg mounting is really quite close to the pivot point on the swingarm, so the up and down movement of the pegs during suspension travel would be minimal. cant see the problem really.
