G'day all,
Hello to you all, and greetings from sunny Brisbane Australia.
I'm looking at getting an 06 or probably 07 FXDBI and I wanted some thoughts from people who actually ride on how the new pillion pegs are working on any of the 06 Dyna range. Its the first time I've seen them positioned on the actual swing arm and not on the frame. The dealer says his lady didn't notice the difference on a short ride, but......I'd like some more informed comment than this.......
My lady pillions a good number of miles with me each year, especially in Australia, so the question is, how do the pegs feel compared to the previous Dynas for the pillion passenger? How are the bumps and vibration? If any of you pillion out there on this new range please let us know. Our last Dyna was a 99 FXD which my lady found comfortable for the 400 miles a a day we do on the usual Aussie and previously European roads, some good, some could be a lot better.
My OL loves our Dyna. The peg mounts are on the swingarm, but they are up near the pivot so any movement is very small. Even if you bottom out the rear suspension, the pegs only move 1/2 inch or less. I can't keep her off the bike, so I guess it's pretty nice back there. Previous bikes, she would start getting a little numb after 100 miles, but on the Dyna we've ridden 400 miles in a day and no complaints from her.
hey hey. the pegs arent too bad. my girl only notices a difference because we used to ride sportbikes. movement is very minimal. i have them on a bob. the only minus is that the mounts are the flat black and the frame is still the gloss. maybe a winter fix! cheers mate!
There's nothing new about Harley mounting passenger footpegs to the swing arm; They did that over 30 years ago. On the original Supeglide, they were furthur back on the rear shock lower mount.
OK, thanks Jamie WG and sapperw5, this is exactly what I need to know to feel confident that the pillion ride hasn't been compromised in the 06 range. Looks like its going to be another Dyna for us then!
My special lady friend report that the pegs on our 06 FXDLI work well. The pegs are mounted well forward on the swingarm so they do not move a great deal. I am sure that adapters for alternate positions will be forthcoming. A peg with a flat surface is recommended for longer rides.
