Ok Snake, I was informed that I was full of Crap ... and I was

I hadn't look at one for a while (Memory "faded") so I scrounged around for a sample and now see that you can actually put the nut on both ways, but it doesn't make much difference on "gripping".

But if you put something on the correct side (whether tightening or loosening) to slightly wedge in as you start turn the screw it works pretty good (I cautiously used a small screwdriver, but you pick something non metallic)

Hope it helps

be careful with that tiny nut, if you drop it, it will land in an alternate universe never to be found again, lol

Thanks for that, especially the pictures.

My issue is that I replaced my headlight and the gap I have now is bigger than it was with the stock housing. I don't know if it's because the new housing is bigger or if I don't have the ring tight enough. Looking at your pics though, my gap is about the same as yours so maybe I just need to tamp down the OCD a bit?

I was able to start the screw and nut with the trim off the bike, then pop it on and finish tightening. Maybe that helps.

Just checked both of my older Dynas and the one with the original bulb has the taper in the ring and the one with the replaced bulb is the same, so I did good years ago.

So opposite of the pics above? I am able to get a small crescent wrench on there but it keeps slipping so maybe it's already as tight as it's going to get?
