Drag Specialties engine mount replacement, worse vibrations ?
So for the last 2 or three years I kept "fixing" my front engine mount by doing the Rubber shaving and Shimming tricks. Finally this spring I got it down to a science and the bike was super smooth, but it was definitely time for a new mount, it had sagged so much there was no more rubber to shave off. So ordered the drag specialties OEM replacement thinking it was time for a fresh one and that the bike would be smooth as glass. Boy was I wrong. Worse Vibrations than I have ever had with the collapsed OEM one. I noticed right off the bat that the space to shim was worse with the Drag specialties.
Has anyone noticed worse vibrations when switching to the Drag Specialties mount? Is that something that will settle in?
was it instantly less or did it take a few 100 miles to settle in?
Mine were instantly worse and its not like I haven't taken that thing out multiple times before haha
Thanks
JP
Well my old mount was soft and worn, and the new was stiffer so a little more vibe was in the bars (at idle) but the engine shaking was instantly less.
Bike was also instantly better handling in the turns. About 500 miles later even the bars shook less at idle.
Run it a while, see what happens.
Shimming the new mount indicates that your rear mount is pushed back. When the front mount sags the whole drive train moves back. Time to push it forward again.
