Yes, it'll be ready for the riding season. Another day's work or so, and it should be pretty much totally reassembled. At that point, the unknown will be the wiring harness. And even that looks pretty straightforward, I believe the only wires that need attention are for the lights.

Unless I messed something up with the big bore install, I expect to have it running in the next week or two.

Ignore the disaster that is my garage, but the bike is coming along.

I ordered a set of ape hangers from Dominator Industries a month ago, and I was pretty stoked about them. Didn't realize they were made to order, but I was willing to wait. Well, as I said, it's been a month now, and I still haven't seen a shipping notification. They were very responsive to my inquiries at first, but now they're ignoring me. Not impressed. So, for the time being, I put the bars it came with back on, along with new hand controls, levers, and grips.

The new controls only came with one end of the Deutsch connectors, so I have to track the other half down before I can connect everything. For the time I'll leave them long because eventually I'll get a set of apes on there.

Once the controls are connected, I should be able to mount the tank and start the bike. Super stoked to hear it run.

I'm also missing my port side footpeg and mount, along with the battery cover. Not sure where they ran off to...

And for the color reveal at last...

Got everything hooked up and the tank mounted last night, HAD to hear it run! It fired and tried to stay running, but we had gas pouring out of the drain tube on the bottom of the carb, so it has to come off and get rebuilt. Hopefully have that dealt with tonight.

Still got some odds and ends to deal with before it's good to roll down the road, but getting it running is the big milestone!

Alright y'all, I need some help here. Trying to figure out right hand control wiring.

Ordered new HD controls, and they came with instructions that say that my year, 2005, has 6 wires in the harness and 6 on the controls.

However, my harness has 8 on the right. It has two orange with white tracers, which according to the manual runs to the stoplight switch, and two white with black tracer, which is labeled as "Run/Stop Signal".

I arbitrarily chose one of each and installed them in the Deutsch connector. Now the bike won't turn over, unless I touch the two extra wires together. My thinking is I have the wrong "run/stop signal" wire in the deutsch connector, and when I touch them together it powers the signal. But why would there be two extra wires in the harness?

Well, I've been remiss in posting updates as it's mostly just been knickknack stuff I'm dealing with, but here she is today...

Looking good!

did you get the control wires figured out? There should be 2 wires in there for the brake light switch along with the 6 for the hand control switches

Yep, got everything hooked up. The two black wires in the hand control harness are not used on this bike.
