I have a 2013 FXDF. Do they mean 784 ml per side or 784 ml total?

It must be per side. Every bike I've ever done has taken more than half a quart per side and these are pretty big (diameter) forks.

This guy used 328 ml on each side in his Road King.

And this guy used 317 ml on each side in his Street Glide.

Why does my Fat Bob require more than twice as much?

I I believe the manual for my 2008 indicates that it's a measurement from the top of the fork to where the oil starts, not necessarily a specific volume of oil.

In reference to your 2008 FSM (and most), they give both ... (but the quantity is stated an Approximate as opposed to a Specific)

Desired Fluid Level should be one's Target, but the Quantity gives you an idea what it will take to achieve that

BTW, I don't think he was looking for an answer for himself

Yes....with the spring out and the fork compressed measured from the top of the fork down to the top of the oil...pretty easy...just grab some bottles of oil and go to town...careful tho...the tubes fill up faster than you think they will...

Those fork seals are notorious for leaks. If it's not hemorraging fluid, then it could be a small piece of dirt in the seal. You can use 35mm camera film to slip between the tube and seal to "scoop" out the offending debris. Check yootoob on how to do this. Pry up your dust seal, to reveal the oil seal.

30wt oil is too thick for your orifices. 10-12-15wt max. Remember, these are "American SAE" viscosity numbers.)

You're in Sweden, where ISO #'S reign supreme. You'll be looking for "32, 46 & 68"
32 = about 7wt
46 = about 10wt
68 = about 20wt

You can mix/blend any of these as they are compatible. To make a "custom" viscosity.

784 ml per side is correct. Fork seals are replaced now.
